Say hi to Brian Shyu!
Brian Shyu is a recovering engineer turned designer passionate about all things creative, strongly believing in the intersection of design, technology, and marketing. He has a broad experience in product design, service design, mechanical engineering, and brand strategy and has worked on challenges related to energy and industrial safety.
Brian leads the global design organization at Eaton focused on designing meaningful experiences across digital, physical and IoT product families. In addition to his role leading the Human-Centered Design practice at Eaton, he is an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon’s Integrated Innovation Institute. Previously, he worked at Dicks Sporting Goods as a Director of UX Design and at MSA, the Safety Company, as a global product designer.
What is your role?
Brian: I am the Sr. Manager of Design at Eaton where I lead Eaton’s global Human-Centered Design Center of Excellence.
Why Design Thinking Austin 2020?
Brian: Design Thinking Austin 2020 is an amazing place to connect with other Design Thinking practitioners who are solving the world’s wicked problems. It’s inspiring to see the incredible work that is going on and to learn from other passionate practitioners.
Brian: I’ve fallen asleep through every Star Wars movie, but have stayed awake through the Mandalorian series!
