As a LUMA Instructor & Coach, Mike works with a fantastic group of instructors, and customer success partners to deliver transformative educational experiences at scale for large enterprises around the world.
Previously, Mike was the Product Manager for LUMA Workplace, LUMA’s acclaimed digital platform (used by design thinkers in 75+ countries around the globe). Mike is passionate about exploring how today’s innovators work, learn, and collaborate in order to help anticipate and define new offerings that support people in their application of Human-Centered Design.
Trained as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, Mike has spent 15+ years leveraging sketching and storytelling to explore, understand, and define innovative solutions to complex design problems.
Prior to joining LUMA, Mike was a Senior Designer at MAYA Design (recently acquired by Boston Consulting Group), where he led multi-disciplinary design teams focused on solving complex interaction and service design challenges across a range of industries. In addition to client work, Mike also focused his efforts on recruiting, mentoring, and developing junior design talent across the organization.
Mike has a Master's in Design (MDes) degree from IIT’s Institute of Design in Chicago, where he directed his lifelong love for drawing into his Master’s capstone research project focused on developing a better understanding of the role of drawing and sketching within the process of design.
Previous professional experience includes working for Art & Anthropology (A&A) as a Senior Designer where he developed identity systems and communications materials for arts and non-profit organizations and working for Hugh Dubberly at the Dubberly Design Office where he first discovered a love for understanding and communicating complex systems clearly.
Mike has taught in Denver and Chicago at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to his Master's degree, Mike holds a BFA in Design from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
